The Füchse Berlin took the top spot in the handball Bundesliga with their sixth win in their sixth game, but lost Fabian Wiede. The national player was taken off the field on a stretcher. In the northern duel, Flensburg gave away victory against Hanover.
The Füchse Berlin have initially taken over the lead in the handball Bundesliga. The capital club won its away game on Friday against newly promoted HBW Balingen-Weilstetten 37:26 (23:12) and celebrated its sixth win in its sixth game of the season. The best thrower was Berlin’s Mathias Gidsel with nine hits. On Sunday, the Berliners can be pushed out of the top position again if MT Melsungen wins against Lemgo Lippe.
Berlin’s backcourt player Fabian Wiede caused a moment of shock. The national player sprained after landing, grabbed his right ankle and had to be taken off the field on a stretcher. The 29-year-old watched the end of the game in the hall with his foot taped.

The Berliners did not allow themselves to be disturbed by the failure. 2,350 spectators experienced a class difference over long stretches. After a good 23 minutes, the lead was in double digits for the first time (18:8). After the break the game was more evenly balanced, but the Balinger team could hardly take advantage of even a double majority.
Flensburg is giving up again
SG Flensburg Handewitt had previously missed out on the top spots due to a bitter 26:26 in the northern duel with TSV Hannover-Burgdorf. SG coach Nicolej Krickau’s team led 14:11 at halftime and later gave up a five-goal lead. Former Flensburg player Marius Steinhauser equalized for the home team at the last second.

The best throwers in front of the 7,521 spectators were U21 world champion Justus Fischer with six goals for Hannover and Emil Jakobsen with nine goals for the guests. “Simply stupid from the whole team,” commented SG goalkeeper Benjamin Buric at Dyn about the wasted points. In the table, Flensburg remains two places behind Lower Saxony in sixth place.
