French Elite Basketball Championship: Asvel and Paris Kick off Season with Victories

Asvel, with revenge after a missed season, beat Le Mans at home (89-75) during the first day of the French Elite Basketball Championship on Sunday, just like Paris which held firm against Dijon (81-64).

The Rhone residents and Joffrey Lauvergne, top scorer of the match with 18 points, did not miss their restart.

Paris, carried by its playmakers TJ Shorts (19 points) and Nadir Hifi (18 points), largely dominated Dijon for its reunion with the Halle Carpentier, just like Strasbourg, which easily won against Nanterre (71- 57).

The day before, the Mets, outgoing finalists who lost in the offseason not only their star Victor Wembanyama, who left for the NBA championship, but also almost their entire squad, were surprised at home by Saint-Quentin (73- 69), the ProB champion, whose first match in the elite for thirty years.

On the other hand, the Monegasques did not stumble on the Limoges floor (72-59), despite the absence of their flagship recruit, Kemba Walker, injured in the knee. Elie Okobo was the top scorer for the Roca Team with 14 points.
