The two 9-point starters (FC Bayern haven’t given up any points yet) will fight for first place on Friday – and the Werkself want to defend their top spot in Munich.
Bayer professional Robert Andrich (28) says: “We are leaders in the table, yes – three games have been played, that shouldn’t be overestimated. The performances were appealing. Now it’s about getting started after the international break.”
And further: “When you win in Munich, it always has an impact. Regardless of what the table constellation is, we want to win there, that’s our goal. That’s how we go into every game, so we’ll try to play to win.”

Bayern sent 16 players to their respective nations during the international break, while the Werkself sent 15. A problem because many stars only return late from their trip.
Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel (50) is not entirely happy with the schedule, saying: “It’s a top Bundesliga game, both teams have a lot of national players. And then playing on Friday evening, I don’t know if I think that’s really good.”
Explosive: Alonso won his only game as a coach so far against Bayern and caused an uproar in Munich: He won 2-1 with Leverkusen in March 2023. It was Julian Nagelsmann’s (36) last game as Bayern coach.
