The American Coco Gauff (number 6 in the WTA rankings) won the 2023 edition of the US Open in New York. In the final the nineteen year old – considered the heir of the Williams sisters – defeated the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka (who from Monday will be number 1 in the world ranking): the final score was 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. For Gauff – who will now become number 3 in the world – it is the first victory in a Grand Slam tournament.
