Aaronson’s Impressive Performance Earns Praise from Coaching Staff

Sometimes it’s these actions that aren’t even noticeable at first. When Eintracht Frankfurt scored the late equalizer against 1. FC Köln, the fans cheered Niels Nkounkou.

What only became apparent in retrospect was Paxten Aaronson’s outstanding pass. The American got the perfect timing and optimal sharpness when playing.

Praise from the coaching staff for Aaronson

A few days later in the test kick against SV Wehen Wiesbaden, Aaronson not only took the lead. He stands out with his agile movements, small steps, technique at first contact and his ability to recognize and play in open spaces.

“Pax is always good for our game,” assistant coach Stefan Buck praised him after the final whistle of the game, which ended 3-1.

The 20-year-old, who moved last January for 4.5 million euros, is viewed internally as a smart player who is very hard-working and always gives full throttle on the pitch.

Aaronson appears highly professional, clear and structured. The family supports him and his brother Brenden, who works at Union Berlin. Dad Rusty Aaronson, for example, was there at Eintracht’s cup semi-final in Stuttgart, and his grandparents were even at the final against RB Leipzig.

Aaronson “often asks Götze for advice”

At this point, Paxten Aaronson still played a minor role. He made his debut under former coach Oliver Glasner, but only came on as a substitute. Successor coach Dino Toppmöller, on the other hand, gave him his trust right from the start in the important second leg for entry into the Conference League and helped him make his starting eleven debut. And Aaronson justified it with a good performance.

Will he take over Mario Götze’s legacy in the coming years? His movements are partly reminiscent of those of the 2014 world champion. His sense of free space and game intelligence are also very similar.

Two assists in eleven appearances also speak for the ability to stay in the dangerous zone. When asked by SPORT1, Aaronson revealed: “I often ask Mario Götze for advice and watch him move. He’s late in his career, but he’s so intelligent.”

The Götze successor is maturing

The respect for Götze is enormous. Aaronson therefore soaks up every tip: “I have to learn what he thinks, how he finds gaps, his positioning on the pitch. He’s just a good guy.” Eintracht is now prepared for the day when Götze leaves the Main metropolis. With Aaronson there is a potential successor who can mature with the necessary patience.

Working with Toppmöller also helps him: “The trainer did a good job. He talks to all the players. As a young player it is very important to have good communication with the coach and get feedback. This is the only way I can know what I can do better.”

Aaronson has another competitor in Chaibi

“It’s time to shine,” reported SPORT1 on April 16th after the substitution and a promising performance against Borussia Mönchengladbach. The U20 national player, discovered by sports director Timmo Hardung, immediately made us want more. Of course, a young player will still have valleys that he has to go through. Phases in which things are not looking up. With Farés Chaibi there was also another competitor in his position.

But Aaronson won’t just let himself be pushed aside. Toppmöller likes him, the whole club is very impressed by his obsession with learning, which he combines with his relaxed and cool manner. The first minutes of the new season – they will not be the last for the potential Götze heir.
