Noa Lang almost caused a major controversy on Monday evening. The PSV attacker took the microphone on the stage of the Stadhuisplein in Eindhoven and was on his way to start a hateful song about Feyenoord. Luuk de Jong intervened at the very last minute.

“It’s just…” Lang shouted into the microphone on stage, before falling into silence.

In 2010, Jan Vertonghen started with those same three words after winning the KNVB Cup with Ajax. “I have a nice song for you… They’re just shitty cockroaches!”, Vertonghen shouted at the time. The former Ajax player was then given a three-match suspension, one of which was conditional.

Luuk de Jong did not let it get that far at the PSV championship party. The captain of the Eindhoven team took the microphone away from Lang before he could possibly finish his song.

Lang then performed a small part of his own song 7k at your party. Jordan Teze also sang part of the song afterwards.

Lang has made a mistake before

Lang crossed the line at Club Brugge’s 2021 championship party. The attacker sang on stage in Belgium ‘I’d rather be dead than a Sporting Jew’, referring to arch-rival (Sporting) Anderlecht.

Three years ago, Lang risked a two-match suspension, but it ended up being an alternative punishment. The former Ajax player had to visit Kazerne Dossin in Mechelen, a deportation camp in the Second World War.
