Zandhoven –
The municipality of Zandhoven opened sports complex Het Veld on September 7, 2013. During the month of September, various festivities are organized, culminating in a sports party with a deejay in the cafeteria on 16 September.
Before the construction of Het Veld, all sporting action was somewhat spread over Zandhoven. There were the mini sports hall, the judo room, the gymnastics hall, the sports hall of the VTI, the Hooge Schuur of domain Hooidonk… A new sports complex to bring all this together was therefore more than welcome.

Het Veld had to meet the needs of the sporty population and provide a sublime mix of sport and relaxation. Both sports clubs and individual athletes can go there for volleyball, tennis, badminton, futsal, squash, martial arts, archery and more. In addition, you also have the school sports days, sports during the day and the sporty birthday parties. The complex is well utilized annually by more than 55,000 athletes.
The rates for the use of Sportcomplex Het Veld have been deliberately kept very low over the years. The municipality wants to give everyone the opportunity to exercise, regardless of their budget, because sport contributes to the health and well-being of the inhabitants.

The complex also has a cozy cafeteria. “If you look at the photos of the opening, they seem like they were taken yesterday – that’s how well the complex has been maintained by the strong team of the sports department. Every time I enter the Veld sports complex and let all the sporting violence come at me, I instantly become happy,” says mayor Luc Van Hove (CD&V).
The construction of the sports complex was the largest achievement in the municipality of Zandhoven to date. “It was and is more than worth the investment,” the mayor still believes. “I am proud of this building, proud of our team and very happy with all those athletes and visitors. On to the next 10 years.”
