In the second baseball league, the first play-off quarter-finals are on at Weyersberg.

Solingen. After a long summer break, the Alligators are going full steam ahead this Saturday. The first quarter-final play-off game in the 2nd Bundesliga will take place in the baseball park on Kotter Straße. Bremen Dockers, who also used to play in the Oberhaus, will be guests from 2 p.m. “It’s really just this game and not a double header,” Markus Meyer refers to the rather rare constellation and hopes that there will be plenty of spectators at the Weyersberg.
The people of Solingen also take the opportunity to point out the new containers – they were purchased as part of the NRW funding program for modern sports facilities. “It’s not a real inauguration yet, we want to celebrate it with our children. After all, it’s important for the whole club,” says the club boss.
The Alligators were able to make good use of the break of several weeks to set up and stock the containers. “That was not without millimeter work, even when it was delivered. But in the end we went through the block of butter like a hot knife from Solingen”, says Meyer, thanking Bernd Schlemminger and Uli Römer in particular for their good planning. The result triggers just as much joy as the realization that the membership really kicked ass.
It was hard work for the Solingen team to get into the play-offs
In terms of sport, the two-time German champion from Weyersberg has a hard nut to crack. At least if you look at the tables of the two clubs. While the Solingen team in the Northwest season with ten wins and six defeats just qualified fourth for the knockout round, the Hanseatic city trumped. 16 successes with four defeats meant first place in the North-Northeast group – tied with the Kiel Seahawks. “That’s our big disadvantage. We haven’t played for over a month, Bremen has a lot more practice there,” says Markus Meyer in consultation with Gilberto Marshall, the coach of the second division team. The intention to upgrade this with “former warriors” could not be implemented.
Without any additional routine, it is against the Bremen team, which has grown as a team and may be hosts twice next weekend. Whoever has two wins first is in the semi-finals.
