Stuttgart Reds take Game One victory against Hünstetten Storm

Stuttgart retains the upper hand in game one

The Stuttgart Reds win game one of the playdowns at the Hünstetten Storm 12:9. The guests from Swabia already looked like the sure winners before the hosts made it exciting again with a 7-run rally in the fifth inning. This is also because the Reds completely lost their offensive momentum after three runs in the opening inning, six in the second and three in the third.

Among the guests, left fielder Benedikt Schäfer was the most successful point collector with three RBI’s. He was successful in the first inning with a sacrifice hit and a run later with a 2-run double. However, Hünstetten’s Matias Polanco was the man of the game at the plate, even though he was unable to prevent his Storm from losing in the end. Hünstetten’s catcher works out four hits in four at bats, three RBI’s and a stolen base.

Stuttgart’s starting pitcher José Mendoza secured the win. In five innings on the pitching hill, the Croatian gave up eight hits and nine runs. He got five strikeouts.
