San Siro will not be demolished, the cultural interest behind the Superintendence’s decision

San Siro will not be demolished. This was decided by the Regional Commission for the cultural heritage of Lombardy, which officially endorsed the proposal of the Superintendency, which recognized a cultural value and interest for the second ring of the Meazza. Therefore, the dream of Inter and Milan, who wanted to tear down the stadium to build their new home together, more modern and in step with the times, has finally died out. However, the constraint placed by the Superintendency on the second ring was confirmed by the Lombardy Regional Commission for Cultural Heritage, which therefore closed off any possibility of demolishing the plant.

Rome transfer market, the president of Santos freezes Pinto: «Marcos Leonardo? This is not the time to lose two strikers.”

«Having examined the attached technical documentation, acquired the opinion of the Superintendency for the Metropolitan City of Milan and the related annexes», reads the verdict, «the Commission unanimously expressed a positive opinion of the existence of cultural interest for the second ring of the Stadium of San Siro, in view of future verification pursuant to art. 12 of the D.

Legislative Decree 42/2004 (upon the fulfillment of the age requirement of more than seventy years), thus endorsing the proposal of the competent Superintendency. It should also be noted that the Archival and Bibliographic Superintendence for Lombardy, during the same session, recalled the value of the west grandstand of the stadium as an “exposed archive” for the plaques/epigraphs documenting the national and international successes of Inter and Milan. Since it is a “public archive”, as it is municipal property, it is protected by law pursuant to art. 10, paragraph 2, letter b of Legislative Decree 42/2004″.

The decision had been in the air for some time and in fact the two clubs have already moved to identify building land on which to build their new stadiums. Inter have already chosen Rozzano, while Milan seem to be heading towards San Donato. The future of San Siro, on the other hand, remains uncertain, with the Municipality of Milan which, once the “move” of the two teams is complete, will have to personally manage the management and maintenance of the facility.
