Tyson Fury loses to Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk in the boxing showdown for the most important world titles. Afterwards, the Brit shows himself to be a sore loser. He claimed that the Ukraine war influenced the referees’ decision.
When it was all over and the boxing match was over, tears flowed. Tears of joy, tears of relief. Oleksandr Usyk was clearly impressed by winning all the major heavyweight world titles. The 37-year-old Ukrainian defeated the previously unbeaten Briton Tyson Fury on points (115:112, 113:114, 114:113) in the twelve-round unification fight on Sunday night. After the duel he had to be taken to hospital. His jaw was broken.
“It was such a great opportunity for me, for my family and my country. This victory is for my family and my country. Glory to Ukraine,” said Usyk, who dedicated his victory to the Ukrainian soldiers in the fight against aggressor Russia. Usyk got revenge in the ring.
Ukraine only has a quarter of the air defense systems it needs

After a thrilling duel and a strong fight comeback by Usyk in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, he now holds the world titles of the important associations IBF, WBO, WBA and WBC, as well as those of the IBO. He is now the first undisputed world champion in 25 years. The last time in the heavyweight division was in 1999. At that time, Lennox Lewis defeated Evander Holyfield on points and secured the world championship belts from the three top associations at the time (WBC, IBF and WBA). The WBO was only later recognized at this level. Fury defended the WBC belt in vain.
Option for a rematch
But the World Cup title wasn’t all that undisputed. The losing Fury then caused a stir with comments about the ongoing war in Ukraine. According to reports in various British media outlets, Fury subsequently claimed that Ukraine’s ongoing war with Russia had led to people siding with his opponent. He believes, Fury said, that he won the fight. “We both put up a good fight as best we could. His country is at war, so people side with the country that is at war.”

Both professionals, who are aiming for a rematch, went into the duel undefeated. Usyk took his world title from Anthony Joshua in 2021 and successfully defended it against the Brit in 2022. In 2015, Fury surprisingly defeated Wladimir Klitschko and became world champion. He later renounced the titles, came back in 2018 and won the WBC title against Deontay Wilder.
