Quentin Grimes Preseason Training Includes Workouts with JJ Redick and Penny Hardaway

Quentin Grimes is having a busy preseason and, after training with shooter JJ Redick, he will soon train with Penny Hardaway in Memphis.

The Knicks guard is already working on his next campaign, and after going through the microphones of SNY.comhas chatted a bit about his summer, the training camp with the Team USA or what is expected of him in the 2023-24 campaign after taking over the title instead of Evan Fournier.

“They were probably the best two days I’ve had all summer,” he said of his training with Redick. «A veteran with 15 years of experience in the NBA. He has seen it all. He has done it all. He has played on various teams. He has had great performances in the playoffs… So just being able to chat with him for a while. Being in the gym. Going to his house and having dinner with his family… I couldn’t ask for better days, honestly,” he explained.

Redick, who was number 11 in the 2006 Draft, retired in 2021 after a final year with the Dallas Mavericks. Grimes tells that he called him on the phone to set a date and be able to do a private training with him.

His time with Team USA

Grimes has been one of the 11 players who has participated with the Select Team USA as a preparation for the next World Cup 2023 where Greece, New Zealand and Jordan will play in the first round.

There he coincided with his teammates Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart, members of the first team, where he was aggressive in defense, shot from the outside when he had the opportunity and also had time to practice his game with the ball.

«I have felt quite comfortable with the ball in my hands. Making plays for myself and my teammates,” he admitted. “I have taken my defense to the next level. Always pending the best player. I try to be more consistent. I try to be in the best possible shape,” he added.

“To be effective in attack and defend the best player, you have to be in shape. It’s one of the great things I learned from JJ So I’m definitely working really hard to get into pre-season in the best possible shape,” he stressed.

Randle, a winner

Quentin Grimes showed great respect for teammate Julius Randle, who forced his way into the playoffs despite a major ankle injury that required surgery this summer.

“This shows that no one should question his toughness. How much he loves him, how much he cares about this team, how much he cares about winning,” Grimes said. “I think there’s a certain negative narrative around him, and honestly, I think it’s just utter nonsense. He cares a lot about winning, about the team, about being in shape… he is my man. He always shows how much he wants to win », he concluded.
