Novak Djokovic Defies Odds and Triumphs in Sweltering Cincinnati Battle against Carlos Alcaraz

Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz battle it out in the sweltering Cincinnati heat. With the better end for the Serbs, who in the meantime was 5:7 and 2:4 behind.

Despite his 36 years, “Nole” shows how incredibly fit he is. After 3:50 hours he uses his fifth match point. “What on earth did we just see,” writes “The Tennis Letter” on X. “The fact that he fights his way through a match like this only adds to his shining legacy.”

Tennis expert Bastien Fachan says: “Cats have nine lives, Djokovic has ten”. “Alcaraz could of course have won this match,” says Serbian journalist Sasa Ozmo. “But Djokovic showed how ridiculous the idea was to write him off at that point.”

Djokovic succeeded in the main rehearsal for the upcoming US Open. He missed last year’s edition because he was not allowed to enter the country due to a lack of corona vaccination. He last won the title in New York in 2018.
