“Majareta”, “Seabery Dralion”, “Concesur” and “Trebolissimo” are at the top of the Nautical Week

The boat ‘Majareta’ owned by the owner Alberto Palomino won the first day of the 29th Juan de la Cosa Regatta and the 52nd Nautical Week of El Puerto de Santa María in the waters of the bay of Cádiz. The Shamrock model of approximately 9 meters based on the Río Piedras CN, owes to a very good regatta being able to get the numbers in the correction of times and get the first goal, beating more than a dozen boats that preceded it at the finish .

The boat from Huelva got a 30-second advantage over Basilio Marquínez’s Swan 42 ‘Seabery Dralion’, a team that today flew the CN Sevilla flag at the head of a fleet made up of forty boats. The boat skippered by Nacho Zalvide made a good start and opted for the right tack to the left to complete the first beat, without losing course and position until the finish. With 8 seconds more, third place is held by Salona 37 ‘Concesur 50 años’ which represents RCMT Punta Umbría and is skippered by Manuel Sanz de Frutos. A beautiful fight that arises between these two boats, already forced to measure themselves and keep the little ones at bay.

Fourth place goes to Arturo Montes’ Dufour 34 ‘Befesa Ybarra’, also flying the RCMT Punta Umbría flag, which prevails over the defender of the two titles that are up for grabs until Sunday, the Grand Soleil 37 ‘Brujo’ of shipowner Federico Linares honoring the RCN of Cádiz.

In the general classification by classes, those of ‘Majareta’ are leaders in theirs ORC 5, just as ‘Seabery Dralion’ is with great solvency in ORC 0-2, and ‘Concesur 50 years’ in ORC 3, the latter boat who receives the pressure of ‘Befesa Ybarra’ and ‘Brujo’, second and third, respectively. In ORC 4, the first standout after the premiere is the First 31.7 ‘Trebolissimo Dos Asisa’ by Curro Azcárate under the banner of RCMtmo, from Huelva.

The inaugural test consisted of a technical route (windward/leeward) of 5.9 miles and four sections, marked by mild SW winds of between 6 and 7 knots of maximum intensity. Conditions that together with the strong tidal current have complicated the tactics on board the boats. The regatta ended with some boats that optionally made their entry through the Guadalete river, competing for the Vistahermosa Trophy until they finished at the mooring pontoons of the RCN in El Puerto de Santa María, a trophy that was also won by ‘Majareta’.

Tomorrow, Friday, the second day will be held and it will be the last to meet the winners of the 29th Juan de La Cosa Regatta, while the fight for the gold catavino will continue until Sunday the 20th. After tomorrow’s regatta, the first installment of trophies of the week to the winners of the tribute regatta to the famous cartographer, a ceremony that will take place from 9:00 p.m. at Bodegas Caballero, main sponsor of the Juan de la Cosa regatta.
