Monaco bankruptcy brings PSG French title

A defeat by rivals AS Monaco gave Paris Saint-Germain their twelfth French Ligue 1 title. Coach Adi Hütter’s team would have had to win at Olympique Lyon to have a mathematical chance of winning the championship, but lost 2-3. PSG, which played 3-3 against Le Havre on Saturday, was able to celebrate on the Sunday off. Monaco can no longer make up twelve points in the remaining three rounds.

Monaco, which had recently won four times in a row, took the lead in the first minute through Wissam Ben Yedder, but Lyon turned the game around in the 26th minute thanks to goals from veteran Alexandre Lacazette (22nd) and Mohamed Benrahma. Ben Yedder struck again in the 60th minute and only supposedly in the 79th minute. This goal was disallowed due to an offside position. Malick Fofana (84th) finally scored Lyon’s victory.

Cham match winner for Clermont

Clermont Foot have come back from the relegation battle with a win. The bottom team achieved a 4-1 home win over Stade de Reims in the 31st round on Sunday, with ÖFB team player Muhammed Cham putting together a penalty brace for the hosts.

The 23-year-old first used a hands penalty to make it 1-0 (31st), then in the second half he scored from the spot to make it 2-1 (56th). Clermont reduced the gap to a non-relegation spot to four points.
