‘Koopmeiners agrees with top transfer; Atalanta considers offer’

Napoli has submitted an official offer to Atalanta for Teun Koopmeiners. According to Il Mattino, a local newspaper in Naples, the Italian national champion has 37 million euros left for the 25-year-old midfielder. Koopmeiners himself would have already given his approval to a transfer. He is the successor to Piotr Zielinski who is leaving for Saudi Arabia.
Zielinski’s transfer is about to come around. The Polish midfielder, who has been strong at Napoli for years, will leave for Al-Ahli for a maximum of 30 million euros. Koopmeiners should be his replacement. The Dutchman was on a roll at Atalanta last season, where he produced 10 goals and 4 assists in 33 league games. Zielinski (3 goals and 9 assists in 37 games) fared even less in that regard.
However, the question is whether Atalanta agrees to the first offer. The club from Bergamo has set the asking price for Koopmeiners at 50 million euros, according to Il Mattino. Juventus may want to comply: the Old Lady is also interested in the services of the left leg, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. In Turin, Koopmeiners has to compensate for Paul Pogba’s sensitivity to injury.
Koopmeiners is on the eve of his third Serie A season. In the summer of 2021, he made the switch from AZ to Atalanta for twelve million euros. Before that, the Orange-international played 154 matches for the Alkmaarders, in which he scored 43 times and delivered 17 assists. Koopmeiners went through the entire AZ youth academy and even made it captain.
