Young Irish jockey Sean Kirrane had the greatest success of his career winning the Group 1 Coolmore Wootton Bassett Nunthorpe Stakes with Live In The Dream at York. The 23-year-old Dubliner surprised all bettors by starting the race leader and held on to the finish to win by a length. The decisive victory in a great race was reflected in scenes of joy on the parade ground with team owners Steve and Jolene De’Lemos among those in attendance.

All the cameras captured the moment in which Jolene unexpectedly kisses rider Sean Kirrane on the mouth and with her husband a few meters away. The Dublin native was taken aback by the quick scene and had a smile on his face as he basked in his moment of glory. In the midst of the chaos over the case of Luis Rubiales and Jennifer Hermoso in the women’s World Cup, network users viralized the video.

Kirrane received some 353,000 euros for his historic victory and shared a few words about the emotional moment. “I can say with absolute certainty that I still haven’t fully assimilated it. I still feel as if he had won another race, but going through that line was quite a sensation in front of very serious horses, ”he explained in a chat with ITV.

He added: “I wanted to show that I am a true top-level sprinter and I have a massive thank you to the owners for keeping faith with me mainly, but also with Adam West, for letting him have this horse and counting on me. Keeping the association intact has a lot of merit”.

Coach West, for his part, also faced the microphones to give his point of view on the feat. “I can not believe it. This is amazing, everything happens for a reason. We had no luck in Deauville. He is a horse with whom we have had a lot of fun and in which we have a lot of faith. He has been with us since he was a year old, what a journey. I never thought it was possible to win it,” he declared with a smile.

To close, he tried to explain the day he lived in a few words: “We were very happy with the six positions, we laughed and joked about the bets and how few they were. He had nothing on the line. Money doesn’t matter, it’s unbelievable, today I train a Group 1 winner.”
