The Danish Crown Prince Frederik handed out a number of medals on Sunday at the badminton world championships in Copenhagen. Queen Margrethe’s son is a patron of the tournament and watched the matches on the final day of the World Cup.
The crown prince also saw some compatriots take action. Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup competed against South Korean duo Kang Min-hyuk and Seo Seung-jae in the men’s doubles final. Frederik wished his compatriots good luck on Instagram before the start of the match. Despite the encouragement of the Danish royal, the Danish badminton players had to settle for silver.
It was Frederik’s second time as patron of the tournament. The first time was in 2014, when the World Cup was also held in Copenhagen.
