“For the Champions League you need a strong squad. When you play the Europa League you can concentrate 100% on the league because the group usually tops it and when the round of 16 and the quarter-finals arrive it starts to get serious. We have to be good at playing two competitions, for that you need a squad”. The new Napoli coach, Rudi Garcia, defines the Neapolitans’ goals for the season in his first exclusive interview in Italy which opens tomorrow – Thursday 17 August – “DAZN Heroes”, the original content format of the sports live streaming and entertainment platform which tells the protagonists and the most exciting stories of sport. Pierluigi Pardo interviewed the French coach on the occasion of the team’s retreat in Castel di Sangro.
Garcia also tries to outline the characteristics of the game he wants for his team: “My players have a collective spirit and are good at their first game – he explains to Dazn Heroes – We are cultivating these characteristics”.
The captain’s armband? “Di Lorenzo is a man of great quality because he thinks of others – he underlines – I had no doubts that my captain would be Giovanni di Lorenzo, because it could only be him”.
In the interview with Dazn, the new Napoli coach also talks about the relationship with the president De Laurentiis, the esteem for his colleagues Spalletti and Mourinho, the memory of Cristiano Ronaldo and Totti who have passed under his guidance over the long years of his career, but also an evaluation of the champions he has in his team: Raspadori, Osimhen, Kvaratskhelia and obviously Captain Di Lorenzo.
