Passau was the venue for a thrilling judo Easter tournament, which was held for the twenty-second time. In the U11, U13 and U15 age groups, a total of 389 judoka competed for the coveted medals on an impressive area of almost 400 square meters. Judoka from Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Thuringia and even Austria were at the start to compete in fair duels. The TV Kaufbeuren judo department was particularly successful, with five participants taking to the mat. They can look back on the tournament with pride and joy, because all five made it to the winner’s podium and were able to receive their well-deserved medals.
In the U11 age group, Georgii Voshchan showed an impressive performance and secured second place in the weight class up to 29 kg. Nico Schmid also landed on the podium, taking third place in the weight class up to 34 kg.
The Kaufbeuren judoka also achieved outstanding results in the U13 age group. Elisaveta Orel took second place in the over 57 kg weight class, while Sophia Bauer achieved third place under 36 kg with a strong performance.
The highlight was Ivano Atlija in the U15 age group, who took first place with four convincing victories and thus brought home the gold medal.
Supervisor Steven Oslath was delighted with his team’s successful performance: “It was an intense time for me as this tournament lasted two days. But when a result like this comes out, all the young fighters, coaches and parents go home satisfied.” Department head Dieter Zimmermann was also proud of the achievements of the judo youngsters and emphasized the importance of this tournament as a milestone for the development of young judoka: “This tournament was a big highlight for our young talent and they were able to gain a lot of experience for their future careers .”
The judo Easter tournament in Passau was not only a sporting event, but also an important experience and motivation for the TV Kaufbeuren athletes on their way to further success in judo.
