Celtics Explore Free Agent Options: TJ Warren and Lamar Stevens Invited for Tryouts

Like the Warriors, the Celtics still have room in their workforce, and like the Golden State staff, they have decided to test “free agents”. And not just anyone since The Athletic reports that they invited TJ Warren and Lamar Stevens for a try.

Hoopshype adds the presence of Louis King who has the distinction of having played only one game last season with the Sixers, and he had planted 20 points! The latter has just completed a trial with the Warriors.

According to The Athletic, Boston is looking for a winger, and the meeting with the first two cities will take place this week. Clearly, it is not at all the same profile since TJ Warren is first and foremost a striker, and we remember his cards in the “bubble” in Orlando under the colors of the Pacers. Seriously injured then, he only resumed his career last season, on the side of Brooklyn with 9.5 pts on average, before being included in the exchange of his friend Kevin Durant to the Suns.

The Celtics have lost a lot in defense

As for Lamar Stevens, it’s the complete opposite. He is first and foremost a defender, and that is what allowed him to find a place in the Cavaliers rotation.

His mindset and sense of sacrifice could perfectly complement Boston’s current squad, which is very focused on attack with the departures of Marcus Smart and Grant Williams and the arrival of Kristaps Prozingis.

While the Cavaliers had validated his last year of contract, Lamar Stevens was then sent to Spurs as part of the triangle swap deal for Max Strus. In the end, San Antonio decided not to keep him, mainly to save money.
