Athletics World Championships: Folorunso 6/a in the 400hs, gold for the Dutch Bol – Altri Sport

Ayomide Folorunso finished in sixth place in the final of the 400m hurdles at the Athletics World Championships in Budapest, to which she had qualified with a time of 53”89, a new Italian record. The blue raced in 54″19, recovering two positions in the final, however far from the winner, the Dutch Femke Bol, great favorite on the eve. Bol won in 51”70 ahead of the American Shamier Little (52.80) and the Jamaican Rushell Clayton (52.81).

Sixth place in the women’s hammer final went to Sara Fantini, one year after being fourth in Eugene, and with another seasonal record: 73.85. The gold was won by the Canadian Camryn Rogers (77.22) and the silver went to the American Janee Kassanovoid, on the podium with her compatriot DeAnna Price, bronze.

Instead, the other Azzurri representatives competing in the evening stopped in the semifinal. In the 800 men, Simone Barontini finished in fifth place, missing the qualification by just eleven hundredths, while Catalin Tecuceanu finished fourth but with too high a time to hope for the final. In the women’s 200m, Dalia Kaddari finished her semifinal in seventh place.
