Striker Niclas Füllkrug is part of the German national team’s squad for the home European Championships in the summer. The 31-year-old from Borussia Dortmund was announced on Tuesday morning as the fifth player after Manuel Neuer, Nico Schlotterbeck, Jonathan Tah and Aleksandar Pavlovic on radio station 1LIVE.
“It makes me so proud,” said Füllkrug, who appeared on the station’s morning show.
The German Football Association (DFB) is thus continuing its unusual nomination strategy. National coach Julian Nagelsmann will announce the entire squad on Thursday (1 p.m.) in Berlin.
