Ana Gabriela Guevara and Conade Face Multiple Lawsuits from Athletes and Coaches Involving Scholarships

Ana Gabriela Guevara and Conade are already preparing to face at least 17 lawsuits from athletes and water sports coaches affiliated with the organization.

According to lawyer Luis Jiménez, the plaintiffs are demanding that Guevara and the institution return the scholarships they had earned for their work and performance.

“There are about 17 lawsuits more or less, because some of them are missing some documentation. (the athletes) They realized that the only way to obtain what is rightfully theirs is through lawsuits.

“Five divers and two diving coaches, high-altitude diving people and swimmers, specifically those who belong to Nelson Vargas’ organizations,” Jiménez said in an interview with El Universal.

Despite the fact that they are demands of the same discipline, the defender assured that the complaints are treated individually and not at a collective level, in addition to saying that they have nothing to do with the case of the Mexican Artistic Swimming Team, which received retroactive payments and help from President Andrés Manuel López Obrador when Conade withdrew their support.

“Each issue is independent, it is not a collective issue, each issue has different aspects and each one is dealt with in a particular way.

“They are different issues because they did not compete in 2022, so by not having competed in 2022 and not having results, this makes it impossible for them to have been deprived of any rights, the deprivation of rights comes now that they are competing in the Fukuoka World Cup. They received the prizes given by the President of the Republic regarding participation, but having obtained the results also generates a scholarship for them and that is also being demanded ”, he pointed out.

‘IT IS A PERSONAL AND REVENGE THEME’

On the other hand, Jiménez assured that the disagreements between Guevara, Conade and the affected athletes and coaches are different from the problems that can arise in other disciplines, since with the issue of water sports there are pending and personal accounts.

“It only happens with certain disciplines, and there are other disciplines to which Conade, regardless of the situation of the Federation, gives them resources without any problem. It is evident that the problem is a personal issue and not an administrative, legal or other issue, it is an absolutely personal issue, because I insist, I have other clients in which the federations have recognition problems and yet Conade has given resource to athletes directly without any obsession.

“Conade is delivering the resources directly to the athletes, so in a personal capacity, Conade’s problem with aquatic athletes and with some racquetball players like Paola Longoria and Samantha Salas, is a personal issue, of revenge or of some situation that does not it has nothing to do with legality as Conade has argued”, he sentenced.
