It was “a very bad solution” to leave the player hanging in the air and to postpone the court judgment indefinitely.

Becker: “…then Halep no longer needs a judgement”

“Simona is old enough to accept every decision. But she is no longer 25 and every year that she is not allowed or able to play is a lost one. At some point she has not played for too long and then she does not need the judgment at all more, because then she’s too old for it,” Becker points out.

For the US Open, however, the die has long been cast: Halep is not allowed to start and therefore has no chance of tackling her third Grand Slam title.
