SERAVITY. Fourth and final day of competitions at Palazzo Mediceo for the 61st Italian Archery Targa Championship, promoted by the Kentron Dard amateur sports association in collaboration with Fitarco, the Italian Archery Federation and with the patronage of the Coni and the Municipality of Seravezza.
The event brought a thousand athletes of this specialty to the Versilia area with their respective staff and family members in tow.
Showcase for Seravezza
The inauguration took place on Thursday at the Buon Riposo di Pozzi stadium with greetings from the deputy mayor Adamo Bernardi who, supported by the sporting director Giacomo Tarchi, thanked the national archery federation on behalf of the municipal administration and the Kendron Dard sports association for the excellent organization and for having chosen the town of Seravezza as the venue for this very important event.

“A championship that takes place in two very significant locations – said Bernardi – namely the Buon Riposo which is the home of the Palio dei Micci, an event that also recalls the figure of the archers, and Palazzo Mediceo, testimony of history and Unesco heritage”.
The day of the finals
After the competitions of the very young at the opening of the championship and following the preliminary rounds of these days, today will be the turn of the finals from which the winners of this national championship will emerge.
Olympic pass
Eyes therefore focused on the lawn in front of the Palazzo Mediceo and on the targets, given that the competing athletes will play on this ground not only for medals but also for the keys to open the doors to the Olympics scheduled for next year in Paris. As explained in recent days by Susanna Grassini, president of Arcieri Kendrom Dard, the relevance of this appointment lies in the fact that it reflects the formula of the Olympics and, precisely for this reason, allows an assessment of the athletes on the field, so as to identify the archers who will represent Italy at the Olympics.
Big screen and TV
The competitions will take place on the lawn in front of the Mediceo where it will be possible to see the best Italian athletes, also thanks to a giant screen which will allow you to see every detail of the competition. Rai Sport cameras will also arrive in Seravezza and will broadcast the finals live in which the four best athletes in each category will be engaged, for a total of about sixty archers.
The program
It starts with the competitions at 8.30 with the bare arch championship finals with team, mixed and individual team finals; at 11.30 it will be the turn of the compound bow with the finals for teams and mixed teams, at 2.00 pm the individual finals of the category. Finally, at 15.30, the Olympic archery finals for teams, mixed teams and individuals will start. At the end of each specialty, the awarding of the winners with the participation, among others, of the mayor Lorenzo Alessandrini, Susanna Grassini president of Arcieri Kendrom Dard and Sante Spigarelli, vice president of Fitarco and champion of the archery discipline with five records world championships, participation in the 1972, 1976 and 1980 Olympics, thirteen world championships, and eleven European championships. The races will take place regularly even in case of rain. Free admission.
