Xabi Alonso Emerges as Potential Successor to Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid

What had been circulating in the rumor mill for months has recently become official: Carlo Ancelotti will be Brazil’s new team boss.

From the summer of 2024, the Italian will take over the “Selecao”. This also means that the coaching position at his current employer, Real Madrid, has become vacant.

Bayer coach traded as successor

The Spaniards have apparently already identified a favorite to succeed the outgoing Ancelotti. As the “image” wants to know, the focus should be on a former real star: Xabi Alonso.

The 41-year-old played for the “White Ballet” from 2009 to 2014 and therefore knows the club very well. He also worked for a year as a youth coach at Real in the 2018/19 season.

Alonso is currently coaching the German Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen. His team caused a stir with strong performances last season and made it to the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League.

Alonso’s contract with the “Werkself” runs until the summer of next year, which would also accommodate a possible change.
