Jasper Philipsen’s honors list already includes semi-classics such as the Scheldeprijs (twice) and Brugge-De Panne, but he was not yet able to really make his mark in the monuments, even though he was also a top youth player on those roads .
“This year I was already close in Paris-Roubaix, with my 2nd place,” he says at Maarten Vangramberen. “On a good day and with good conditions, that’s a race I should be able to win.”
The Tour of Flanders and Milan-Sanremo must also be within his capabilities. “In Sanremo I never really got close, but this year I had a good feeling on the Poggio.”
“I make progress every year and hope to continue that line, so that I also become a little stronger in the classics. We are on the right track.”
And which monument would he most like to win? Philipsen doesn’t have to think long: “Paris-Roubaix. I think that’s the most special.”
