US Trade Representative Katherine Tai said Thursday that some progress had been made on the dispute with Mexico over energy policies, but added that deep-seated concerns persist.

Tai said he was confident that existing dispute resolution mechanisms in the Canada-US-Mexico trade agreement, TMEC, would be effective in resolving the issue.

Tai spoke to reporters during the annual meeting of the Canada-Mexico-United States Free Trade Commission, TMEC, also attended by the Mexican Secretary of Economy, Raquel Buenrostro, and the Canadian Minister of International Trade, Mary Ng.
