Sporting lowers a third of subscriptions and seeks to “increase the fan base”

Sporting yesterday presented its new season ticket holder campaign for the 2023-24 season. It has done so with a strategy divided into three large blocks. A third of the subscriptions drop in price, another third suffers a “readjustment” reflected in “a maximum of one euro per game”, and in another third there are cases of increases above that measure and others that are frozen, as happens in the case of the animation tier. “The objective is to increase the fan base,” stressed David Guerra, executive president, in charge of presenting the campaign, with the ambition of exceeding the 20,076 subscribers of last season.

“The ‘claim’ of the campaign is ‘For you’, because it forms part of our name, and because we do everything for the club and for each one of our fans. I don’t think about giving sportinguismo lessons, but I do transfer that to the present to understand that all the changes we are trying to make are for you and for Sporting”, stated Guerra at the start of the new season ticket campaign, insisting on making a call for hope and optimism. Along with him, club legends who participated in the promotional video such as Puente, Alonso and Redondo. Sporting has reorganized the areas of the field under which the rates are calculated, assuming that last season the east stand “was the great victim” of the price increase. An attempt has been made to respond in this way to some of the subscribers’ demands, the executive president stressing the effort to “listen to all our fans” and also to attend to “proposals such as those formulated by Unipes”.

The card will continue to include advantages such as discounts in official stores (15% in case of renewals, 10% new registrations) and access to all the matches in Mareo of the grassroots football teams. On the contrary, there will be a “club day” in which you will have to go through the box office and the Copa del Rey matches and a hypothetical play-off are not included in the card either. In these last two cases, Sporitng reserves the option of making subscribers pay or not. Only honorary members are exempt from going through the box office during the entire campaign. In addition to the classic subscriptions, there is the option of the Yogurin card (for children up to 4 years old) and the itinerant one, which allows you to keep the subscription number and have a ticket during the season. Guerra emphasized that “the savings for subscribers will be more than 40% compared to the price of the seats.” Participation in the recently applied “loyalty plan” will go hand in hand with the new card. It is a formula with which Sporting seeks to reward its partners by giving them priority when it comes to withdrawing tickets for matches in which the team plays as a visitor; inviting them to events organized by the club such as the official photo or the fan forum; congratulating them on their birthday or through gifts. “We want to improve the experience of our fans, both in renovations and registrations, as well as in the stadium. We also want to offer better service to season ticket holders, supporters clubs and social groups”, stressed the executive president.

Subscribers can process their renewal now, both on the website and at the El Molinón offices. The term for renewals is open until August 5. On August 8 and 9, the change of site can be managed for those who want another location and from August 10 new registrations will be processed. In the latter case, they will pay 10% more on average than those who opt for renewal. “Many times we fall into a pessimism of letting ourselves go. I see people wanting to get excited, to start a new season with optimism and desire to go up. We hope this campaign is a real success, that we truly carry that sporting spirit, who wants to improve and is not used to defeats”, highlighted David Guerra.
