What a match! The number six in the world tennis rankings, Holger Rune, prevailed after an epic fight against the Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina 6: 3, 4: 6, 6: 3, 4: 6 and 7: 6 (10: 8).
Rune forces the decisive fifth set after a 1:2 set deficit. In the fourth round, Rune fends off two match balls from his point of view at a score of 5:6.
The fifth set sees its showdown in a match tie break. After gaining an advantage, Davidovich-Fokina played his poker high and, when the score was 8:8, served from below.
Rune takes advantage of this and uses his first match point to advance to the round of 16, where he meets the winner of the duel Frances Tiafoe (USA-10) and Grigor Dimitrov (BUL-21). This game had to be stopped due to rain with the ex-Vienna finalist leading 6:2,6:3,1:2.
