Saquon Barkley Signs One-Year, $11 Million Deal with New York Giants

Running back Saquon Barkley has reportedly signed a one-year, $11 million deal with the New York Giants.

This is what the NFL Network said on Tuesday.

The Giants had handed their franchise player tag to Barkley on a freelance basis, but the athlete had refused to sign it. The two sides negotiated to reach a long-term agreement, but failed to reach an agreement before the deadline of mid-July. Labeled players cannot initial a contract for more than one year after this one.

Under the label, Barkley would have received $ 10.1 million for the 2023 season. The 26-year-old footballer, however, threatened to skip the next campaign rather than undergo this process unique to the NFL.

There is currently a great frustration among the ball carriers of the Goodell circuit, which is fueled in particular by the lack of recognition at the monetary level. This was accentuated by the fact that the only three players not granted long-term contracts after receiving the franchise player tag in 2023 are running backs. They are Barkley, Josh Jacobs (Las Vegas Raiders) and Tony Pollard (Dallas Cowboys).
