Lavillenie is no longer there, Sacred Collet on the pole

Renaud Lavillenie did not cross a single bar during the French championships. Crowned last year, Thibaut Collet retains his national pole vault title.

Renaud Lavillenie failed to cross any bar in the pole vault at the French Athletics Championships, where Thibaut Collet retained his title, Sunday in Albi (Tarn), three weeks before the Worlds in Budapest (August 19-27 ).

Lavillenie (36) failed three times at 5.51m, his entry bar into the competition.

The 2012 Olympic champion has so far capped at 5.61 m this summer, and remained, before his zero point in Albi, in two competitions ended at only 5.42 m, in Sotteville and Monaco.

As in addition to Lavillenie, three other Frenchmen, Collet, Anthony Ammirati and Ethan Cormont (injured and withdrawn at Albi) achieved the minimums for Budapest, one of them will not be selected, since there is no a maximum of three tickets per event. The French selection will be known on Friday August 4th.

Collet (24), the only one to have crossed 5.71 m, is sure to be crowned champion of France as in 2022.
