FC Rokycany Begins Preparations for New Football Season Despite Challenging Start

The football players of FC Rokycany started the preparation for the new season in the division, which they defended only thanks to the non-registration of those advancing from the regional competitions. They had their first training session on Friday and on Saturday morning they played in Zbůch against the reserve team of Viktoria Plzeň. And despite the fact that they suffered a 0:6 debacle, their coach Michal Veselý did not despair.

Because of the holidays, he did not have a complete staff available. “It’s useless to evaluate that, the boys prepared individually and we had one training session together. That’s what it looked like,” Michal Veselý, who replaced the experienced Milan Dejmek as coach during the spring, reported on the phone.

He was pleased that it was possible to keep the squad from last season. “That was our goal, even if there is one question mark, it was achieved. For the most part, the staff remained the same,” continued Veselý.

On the other hand, Matěj Rybař, who played in the ČFL last season for Sokolov and the division in Mariánské Lázně, returned after a year.

Rokycany will challenge Viktoria Plzeň’s reserve team. What is the schedule for the next warm-up games?

“He has gained some experience, he is a young boy, he has a taste for football. I’m glad that he joined us,” described the Rokycan coach and revealed that they still have Tomáš Kotva from Vejprnice on tests. “He is an honest, agile midfielder. We’ll see how he takes his chance,” explained Michal Veselý and admitted that after the season he was thinking about significantly strengthening the player squad.

“I approached a few more people, but unfortunately it didn’t work out,” coach Rokycan shrugged. “But I believe that we are still capable of playing quality matches in the division. We just wanted to expand the staff,” Veselý explained.

He still counts on the 20-year-old Nigerian soccer player Isaac Oshogie Umosor, who is handling the formalities in Portugal.

The new coach is trying to completely change the functioning of men’s football in Rokycany. “The main goal for the coming seasons will be the consolidation of all that revolves around football in Rokycany. That seemed to me to be at freezing point, the relationships were of all kinds,” Michal Veselý set himself the main task.

Malinko also changed the style of preparation. “We train together with the B team, to which we also moved some teenagers, so that they can test themselves and see that they have a chance to get to the A team. I try to diversify training, there are more fun things,” added Veselý.

Four more matches await the Rokycan footballers in preparation, including the preliminary round of the MOL Cup against divisional rival Senco Doubravka.
