Egy Maulana Vikri has recently been marginalized from the Indonesian National Team. In fact, on several occasions, Egy was not summoned by Shin Tae-yong to strengthen the Garuda Squad.
Egy Maulana Vikri was never called up after rumors emerged that he had refused a call-up on the FIFA Matchday in March 2023.
On the FIFA Matchday in June 2023, Egy Maulana Vikri was not even listed as a player for the Indonesian national team against Palestine and Argentina.
Regarding these rumors, Egy Maulana Vikri also firmly denied the rumors that he had refused to be called up by the Indonesian national team.

He admitted that he was in a bad condition at that time so he was reluctant to take part in the training camp (TC).
“Last year I also did not refuse (a call-up) from the national team, but indeed at that time (against Burundi) my condition was not very good,” said Egy Maulana Vikri as quoted from bolatimes.com (Suara.com network).
“Why don’t you go there (TC national team), because your friends are in better condition, so let them be there,” he added.
Currently, Egy admits that his condition is starting to improve gradually. He tries to get Shin Tae-yong’s attention again in order to strengthen the Garuda Squad again.
Egy has experienced a decline in his performance since suffering from a knee injury while strengthening the U-23 Indonesian national team at the 2021 SEA Games.

Due to his injury, Eggy returned to his homeland for his adventures in Europe. Now Egy has joined Dewa United since last season, but has not been able to show his best performance.
Egy only appeared 10 times and scored one goal during the second round last season.
“But this year I feel much more prepared. Physically, I must be better and my performance must also improve. What is certain is that I want to play again in the national team and that is the goal of every player,” said Eggy.
Egy Maulana Vikri is also fully aware that the competition for the Indonesian national team is very tight. Therefore, he will try his best to make Shin Tae-yong trust him again.
“I have to show performance here (Dewa United FC). I will not give up before I get what I want (to the national team),” concluded the player who was dressed in Lechia Gdansk.
Egy Maulana Vikri also has to work hard in order to be able to defend the Indonesian National Team at the 2023 Asian Cup which will be held in January 2024.
Especially now that Shin Tae-yong’s team is now inhabited by a number of quality hereditary players.
