Demi Vollering wins the Women’s Tour de France, the last stage for Marlène Reusser

Demi Vollering (SD Worx) won the women’s Tour de France on Sunday with Zwift, after the time trial of the last stage. The Dutchwoman thus wins her first general classification, after a time trial where she finished 2nd. The stage went to her teammate Marlène Reusser (SD Worx), impressive in Pau.

The podium of the stage is entirely occupied by the SD Worx team, since Reusser, European champion in the time trial, beat Vollering, second at 10”, and Lotte Kopecky. The Belgian, fourth Sunday morning before the start, took the opportunity to make a comeback in the general classification and invite herself to the podium of the Tour.

Overall, Katarzyna Niewiadoma (Canyon/SRAM) took third place. The Pole finished ninth in the stage, 1’23” behind Reusser and was overtaken by Kopecky in the general standings, the two having finished the Grande Boucle in the same second.

Van Vleuten au pied du podium, Labous 5th

Second in the general classification on Sunday morning, Annemiek Van Vleuten (Movistar) did not take advantage of the time (14th at 1’41”) to move up the general classification. Worse, the Dutchwoman was ejected from the podium and therefore completed the Tour in fourth place, 53” from third.

Best French in the time trial (6th at 1’17”), Juliette Labous (Team DSM) won a place overall and finished fifth, 4’48” behind the Yellow Jersey.

Kerbaol best young

French time trial champion Cédrine Kerbaol (Ceratizit-WNT) finished the race in 31’46”, ranking 33rd at 2’31”. Wearing the white jersey, she kept her tunic by doing better than Ella Wyllie (LifePlus Wahoo) and therefore won the classification of the best young person.

For the other distinctive jerseys, Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx) won the points classification quite easily, she who wore the yellow jersey for almost all of the women’s Tour de France. Third overall, Katarzyna Niewiadoma (Canyon / SRAM) finished best climber.
