Cowboys Defeat Undefeated Giants to Equalize BSN Final

With the “heat” in all its splendor, the cold blood of the Cowboys was superior in the Guillermo Angulo Coliseum.

Bayamón equalized the fight in the National Superior Basketball (BSN) final by signing a character victory on Thursday 75-67 to end the undefeated local Giants in the postseason, who hosted a championship series game for the first time in 15 years.

The third game of the final will be on Saturday at the Rubén Rodríguez Coliseum with the defending monarch recovering his home court advantage after losing the initial clash in extra time last Tuesday.

Stephen Thompson Jr. led with 16 points, followed by 12 from Kristian Doolittle and Marvin Jones, respectively. Doolittle also added eight rebounds and six assists. Javier González snuck 10.

Bayamón played again without star point guard Ángel Rodríguez, who is recovering from a sprained ankle. The victory on Thursday does not hasten his debut in the final.

Motivated by the robbery at the “ranch” last Tuesday, the Giants started with a 9-2 advance for fans waving the yellow towels that the franchise gave away at the facility.

Mike Scott’s basket, hero of the first game with 35 points, with 7:16 minutes into the first quarter, however, was the last for the locals in the period.

The Cowboys, after a while, went on a breakaway with a 15-0 rally to win 17-9, betting on the game in the paint. Twelve of the units in the opening set were inside the square.

The cowboy advance continued in the second period, with nine more consecutive points as a result of two triples by Javier Mojica and one by Thompson Jr., to dominate 26-9.

After 16 straight missed attempts, Tremont Waters ended the drought with a 3-pointer with 8:06 left.

Carolina remained cold and only scored 13 points to lose 39-22 at the break. He pitched for a meager 25 percent (25 percent). Bayamón, for his part, reduced his errors to two in the first 20 minutes after committing eight in the first half of the initial game last Tuesday.

The Giants were able to reduce the deficit to 12 points (46-34) with a dunk by Scott in the first five minutes of the second half. Bayamón responded with five straight points from Doolittle to maintain the double figure lead.

Two triples by Benito Santiago Jr. gave the visitors a 22-point lead (60-38), who arrived in the fourth quarter in control 60-40.

Carolina, with their reserves, hit by up to eight points but it was already too late with the Cowboys heading to be the crooks this time.

Scott finished with 16 points, as did Waters. George Conditt IV had 11 points and 13 rebounds.
