Coach Thomas Tuchel Addresses Rumors About Joshua Kimmich’s Future at FC Bayern

Coach Thomas Tuchel sees no need to respond to rumors about the future of national player Joshua Kimmich (28). “We work together with Jo here. There is absolutely no reason to comment on that. That’s why I’m not even starting with it,” said the 49-year-old at FC Bayern’s training camp in Rottach-Egern. “I’m not going to deny it. It makes no sense then you have to go through the squad list.”

Market value of Joshua Kimmich

Tuchel recently said that he could not give any guarantees as to who would be on the record champions’ team after the transfer period on September 2nd. There was speculation above all about the future of Sadio Mané (31) and Leon Goretzka (28), but according to the “kicker” Kimmich is no longer untouchable and unsellable. Another candidate for a change is Marcel Sabitzer (29), who has returned from Manchester United and who scored five goals in the 27-0 (18-0) win against FC Rottach-Egern from the district class on Tuesday evening.

“Transfer period is transfer period. That’s why I said in general: Anything is always possible,” explained Tuchel. “It makes absolutely no sense to do name dropping and throw in a different name every day and speculate that it could still work.” Not only after the additions of Min-jae Kim (26), Konrad Laimer (26) and Raphaël Guerreiro (29) is speculated who could leave Bayern. “There are always three parties involved: the player, the receiving club, the releasing club. And if we have a contract and don’t want it, nobody will go,” Tuchel made clear.

Tuchel wants a new goalkeeper for FC Bayern – summer can go

Bayern could leave Yann Sommer (34), who is associated with Inter Milan, among other things. As reported by “Sport Bild”, Tuchel wants to sign an even stronger goalkeeper than the Swiss, who is supposed to compete with Manuel Neuer (37). Sommer has a release clause that allows him to leave Munich when Neuer is fit again. However, the captain is still absent from team training and is said to still not be able to put full weight on his leg after breaking his tibia and fibula, although he himself emphasized that “everything is according to plan”. Bayern is also ready to let summer go, provided a club pays the 9 million euros that flowed to Gladbach as a transfer last winter.

Rumor: Yann Sommer to Inter Milan

Tuchel recently explained that the start of the season will probably come too early for Neuer and that he can only be partially integrated into training in August. FC Bayern therefore need a new number two to be on the safe side, according to the newspaper. Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili (22), who would be expensive at 30 million euros and has more ambitions as a first-choice goalkeeper, are on the scouting list, Bono (32), who FC Sevilla would let go, and Robert Sánchez (25) from Brighton. The latter in particular should not be cheaper than Mamardashvili.

The Munich team, meanwhile, continues to work on signing goalscorer Harry Kane (29) from Tottenham Hotspur. Honorary President Uli Hoeneß followed two rejected offers with pithy words – which, according to “Sport Bild”, caused irritation in England. Manchester City’s Kyle Walker (33) is also under discussion in Munich. “Sometimes patience pays off. The most important thing is that the players we really want come to us. It doesn’t matter how long it takes,” said the new CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen.

Injury problems in the storm? FC Bayern is worried about Tel and Choupo-Moting

For Tuchel, there were also two “big drops of bitterness” after the thrashing of Rottach-Egern. Talent Mathys Tel (18), who, like Sabitzer, scored a five-pack, complained about shoulder problems, and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (34) had to be substituted after ten minutes on the pitch and a collision with the opposing goalkeeper with knee pain. Tuchel emphasized that one had to “wait and see” what further investigations would show. Since Thomas Müller (33) had to leave the training camp early due to muscular problems in his hip, the shortage of personnel in the storm center could escalate.
