Brazilian Referee Edina Alves Batista Selected to Officiate Highlight Game of Women’s World Cup

FIFA announced this Tuesday (18) that the Brazilian referee Edina Alves Batista will referee the highlight game of the 1st round of the Women’s World Cup.

The judge was selected to command the duel between Australiaone of the hosts of the World Cup, and Irelandby the opening of group B.

The game is scheduled for this Thursday (20), at 7 am (Brasília time), at the Sydney Football Stadium.

This will be the 3rd World Cup for Edina, who participated in the 2019 (female) and 2022 (male) editions.

His team will be formed by assistants Neuza Inês Back and Leila Cruz.

The Chilean Maria Carvajal will be the 4th referee, while the VAR will be commanded by Daiane Muniz, alongside the Venezuelan Juan Soto and the Argentine Mariana de Almeida.

The opening match of the Women’s World Cup, between New Zealand and Norway, for the 1st round of group A, will be refereed by the Japanese Yoshimi Yamashita.
