In sweltering heat, Kostja Mushidi (25) from Syntainics MBC fought for the German championship title in 3×3 basketball in Düsseldorf at the weekend.
3×3 is played outdoors and is based more on “streetball” than on classic basketball indoors. Usual two-point throws only count one point, throws from outside the perimeter two points instead of three. Usually, the team that has 21 points first wins.

Mushidi, who competed in the “Der Stamm” team with his friends Rupee Kolawole (Braunschweig Junior Löwen), Samuel Mpacko (MTV Wolfenbüttel) and Demetrius Ward (Artland Dragons), still took third place and thus bronze!
In the semifinals, Mushidi and friends lost against defending champion Düsseldorf LFDY 12:21. The match for third place turned into a very heated affair: “Der Stamm” won 18:12 against “Klutsh”. Düsseldorf defended its title.
It was not the first time that BBL professionals went astray in “Der Stamm”!
In the past, Heiko Schaffartzik (active with Alba and Bayern, among others), Kevin Yebo (currently with the Niners Chemnitz) and Konstantin Klein (last active with the Eisbären Bremerhaven) were at the start.
Mushidi, incidentally the third-best German goalkeeper of the past BBL season with an average of 12.5 points per game, has now successfully continued this tradition with bronze!
