“The Cup is stronger than being champion”: the truths of Dominique Bathenay, captain of PSG in 1982

The presentation of the Hexagoal, on May 12, and the grandiose spectacle which surrounded it, was also an opportunity to celebrate the 50th title in the history of PSG. This young club founded in 1970 wrote the first line of its impressive record in 1982, after an epic final won against Saint-Étienne. Dominique Bathenay, the captain, was the first to lift a trophy for the capital’s flagship club. He recounts this final and describes the very special link between the Coupe de France and PSG, which could win for the 15th time in this competition this Saturday, May 25, in Lille, against Lyon.
