AS Froncles Hosts Successful Adaptive Sports Event Open to All Abilities

From July 10 to 28, the AS Froncles adapted Handi’Sport section offered sports activities open to all able-bodied or disabled people at the Gilbert-Perin gymnasium.

Participants were able to discover activities such as boccia (indoor petanque), curling, the round of froebel, the game of mölkky, archery, badminton, tennis, basketball, hockey, cardiogoal, football, relay races.

Originality of this concept, the activities were offered in a multi-sport wheelchair. A good opportunity for some people to realize that practicing sports in a wheelchair is not as simple as you think.

Throughout this period, the host Philippe Mary was able to welcome many participants. The public was varied: young people and parents from the village and the surrounding area, but also specialized institutions such as the Montclair home in Andelot-Rimaucourt or the Dasa in Chaumont, which created a very interesting mix for this type of event. A great success which led the organizers to renew this action for the summer vacation period 2024. The Disabled Sports Departmental Committee lent the multi-sport wheelchairs and the municipality made the gymnasium available. The next meetings for the adapted Handi’Sport section are set for Thursday, September 21 for the 13th edition of Froncles Handi’sports and Wednesday, October 11 for a disabled sport pétanque challenge on the Froncles bowling alley.
