Argentine Olympic Committee Celebrates Olympic Day Gala

The Argentine Olympic Committee (COA) celebrated with the Olympic Day Gala in commemoration of the date on which Baron Pierre de Coubertin founded the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The highest authorities of national sports attended the event, among which the members of the Board of Directors of the COA; the members of the Executive Council of the institution; national authorities; the Sports Secretaries of the Argentine Provinces; the presidents of the National Sports Federations Affiliated to the COA, representatives of the French Embassy, ​​directors of the ICBC Bank and the company Le Coq Sportif in their capacity as COA sponsors, athletes, journalists and prominent guests.

Mario Mocciapresident of the COA, gave the welcoming words and said: “It is wonderful to be able to celebrate with each one of you the 129th birthday of the International Olympic Committee and thank all those who collaborated with the Olympic Day celebrations in each of your provinces”.

“We have developed activities in 18 provinces, which fills us with pride and satisfaction. We are managing a new year as a team. We have made the decision to work throughout the country with all sectors that have to do with sport and we are putting it into practice not only by working on high performance and competition, which is our central activity, but also in all the axes that have to do with our Olympic Charter, with our philosophy and with our social responsibility” he claimed.

During the Olympic Day Gala, a video was projected that compiled the festivities held in the 18 provinces of our country with a massive and fun compliance.

The 2nd Vice President of the COA Walter Perez and the representative of the athletes in the Board of Directors Paula Pareto they spoke on behalf of the Olympians.

“For us athletes, participating in an Olympic Games is really exciting. That feeling is revived when we celebrate Olympic Day and that all the provinces can celebrate it is a great initiative and it fills me with pride to share it with all the sports people” expressed the Olympic cycling champion in Beijing 2008.

The Olympic judo champion in Rio 2016 highlighted that the festivities “That so many provinces have celebrated Olympic Day and that the children can experience it in their provinces, that they know what the Olympic Games are, what the Olympic values ​​are and what each one represents is wonderful”.

The COA authorities recognized the commitment and work carried out by the Sports Secretaries of the Argentine Provinces with the delivery of diplomas and various presents.

As closing, Moccia manifested “Thank you all for helping us celebrate Olympic Day and we call on you to continue working together for the development of sport at each of its levels based on what each one has as a responsibility and hopefully next year we can celebrate another new anniversary of the International Olympic Committee.
