Joel Schwärzler is the hottest stock that Austrian tennis currently has to offer.

The 18-year-old from Vorarlberg has now celebrated his first victories at ATP Challenger level. Schwärzler is currently number 743 in the world rankings. More ATP points will be added in Skopje next week.

After that, the ÖTV talent wants to turn away from the ATP tour at short notice and return to the junior division.

Schwärzler is still number one in the junior world rankings. As this he also wants to win his first junior Grand Slam title at the upcoming French Open.

Schwärzler: “The only reason”

“The only reason why I’m returning to the juniors tour is that I want to win my first title at a Grand Slam tournament,” the 18-year-old doesn’t beat around the bush for long when telling the “Krone”.

The French Open junior competition starts on June 2nd. Last year, Schwärzler failed in the quarterfinals at Roland Garros.
