Argentina’s U23 Teams Fall Short in National League Debut

Argentina appeared in the U23 tournament that takes place in Chile. On the first day of competition, the boys and girls failed to qualify for the final.

Argentina debuted in the 3×3 in the National League U23 that takes place in Rancagua. The women’s team was victorious against Venezuela and then fell against the United States. Meanwhile, the men’s branch lost in its two presentations: first against Puerto Rico and later against Chile.

Our girls started off on the right foot, dominating their first match from start to finish. Those led by Leandro Tesido were left with the victory against Venezuela by 21-10 with an outstanding performance by Melina Niz with 11 points, Agustina Bazán and Delfina Gentinetta completed the podium with 4 units.

Then, the girls took to the court to face an American team that quickly made a difference. The Argentine national team had a hard time scoring throughout the game. Meanwhile, the North Americans closed well and hurt from medium distance, so much so that with three bombs they sealed the final 21-10.

On the men’s side, the team made up of Felipe Bonfigli, Franco Ciarroca, Juan Cruz Frontera and Gerónimo Ramallo fell to Puerto Rico in their debut 21-14. In a vibrant game, those led by Luciano Santin could not face the Venezuelan power that, led by Bryan González and the dunks of Gianfranco Jiménez, became strong in Chilean lands.

At the end of the day for the boys, the Creole cast fought until the end, but ended up losing to the local team, Chile, 21-18.

We remind you that the Nations League will put into play five different stops, one per day of competition, and will deliver important points for the ranking of the U23 category. On this day both teams accumulated 32 units.
