ALGIERS – The Algerian judo selections improved their harvest of medals at the Arab Sports Games (July 5-15), winning three new gold charms on Wednesday at the Dome of the Mohamed-Boudiaf Olympic Complex in Algiers.
The first gold medal was won by Messaoud Redouane Driss (-73 kg) who won in the final against Moroccan Hassan Doukkali.
Ditto for her compatriot Yamina Halata (-57 kg) who dominated the Tunisian Mariam Jimour in the final. The third gold medal was the work of Amina Belkadi (-63 kg) at the expense of the Tunisian Maram Jmour.
Now, Algeria totals 6 medals (4 gold and 2 silver) after the conduct of six finals.
A little earlier in the day, the Algerian judoka Wael Ezzine (-66 kg) had offered Algeria its first gold medal in judo, after its victory against the Syrian Adam Taook by Ippon (10-0). The silver medals were won by Faiza Aissahine (-52 kg) and Houaria Kaddour (-48 kg).
