After the Belgian Grand Prix, boss Szafnauer will retire from the F1 Alpine team

Szafnauer has been the head of Alpine since last January, and last season the team with Renault engines took fourth place in the Constructors’ Cup. Sporting director Alan Permane has also left Alpine and technical chief Pat Fry will move to rival Williams after the end of the year.

The changes come a week after a disappointing Hungarian Grand Prix, where Alpine drivers Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly crashed out in the first round. Sixth place belongs to the stable in the Constructors’ Cup.

Alpine also lost star driver Fernando Alonso after last season, who left for Aston Martin.
