The league had denied the right to play “due to a lack of a venue that complies with the technical guidelines for the ProA set by the 2nd Basketball Bundesliga”.

For the second highest league, the club needs a hall with a capacity of at least 1,500 spectators and stands.

The Cologne team was aware of the problem before their sporting promotion.

However, managing director and coach Stephan Baeck, European champion with the national team in 1993, promised after the decisive victory: “We will do everything we can to ensure that we can achieve sporting promotion. We have been working very intensively on this for weeks and will now step on the gas even more.”

However, the RheinStars have not yet announced what the Cologne club specifically plans to do to meet the league’s conditions.
