Ada Hegerberg Ruled Out of Crucial Norway Game Due to Injury

Striker Ada Hegerberg, voted best player in the world by France Football magazine in 2018, is out of Norway’s decisive game against the Philippines, in the third round of Group A.

What happened

Ada Hegerberg felt a groin injury during the warm-up of the match against Switzerland – which ended in a goalless draw -, for the second round, and did not even enter the field. The number 14 shirt, holder in the debut – 1-0 loss to New Zealand – was replaced by Sophie Haug.

In the pre-game press conference, coach Hege Riise said that the medical department had worked so that Norway could have Hegerberg, but that there was little time for recovery. Optimistic, the coach said he had the player for the next competition.

Norway is in a difficult situation in Group A. Still without winning in the Cup, the Norwegians add one point and are the key lanterns.

In the last round, Norway faces the Philippines, and they need to win to have a chance of qualifying. The selections enter the field tomorrow, at 4 am (Brasília time).

I have faith in our team tomorrow and I will keep working to come back in a possible Round of 16 game.
