WC 3×3: Belgian Lions have their backs against the wall after losing to efficient Poland | 3×3 Basketball World Cup

Poland had lost its first 2 games on Tuesday, but recovered on Thursday morning with a stunt victory against group favorite Lithuania. Anyone who thought that the Poles had wasted a lot of energy there, however, was disappointed.

The experienced Polish captain Zamojski took his team in tow and Belgium, just like Tuesday, was far too quickly in error. The Belgians found no defensive answer to the Polish two-pointers that flew in from all sides and Dennis Donkor again received too little support in attack.

Thibaut Vervoort, the Belgian attack leader at the previous major tournaments, again turned pale and got stuck on one meager point.

With a phenomenal 7 out of 12 two-pointers, Poland shot to victory and perhaps also to the next round. The Belgians will now have to win against Puerto Rico and then it may be a matter of calculation. The fact that the Lions got stuck on 15 points against Poland may well be the deciding factor in the final balance.

Belgium: Donkor 7, De Valck 4, Augustijnen 3, Vervoort 1
